Hi,
Iā€™m Joy!

As an Eating Disorder Recovery Coach, I bring a blend of empathy, warmth, and a deeply human touch to my work with individuals - adults, adolescents, and their families - navigating the challenges of eating disorder recovery. My approach is shaped by my personal journey through disordered eating, substance challenges, and a quest for positive self-image, leading me to a place of recovery and understanding.

My professional path has been richly informed by these experiences. I've trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for Eating Disorders under the guidance of the internationally acclaimed psychologist Dr. Anita Federici, in collaboration with Sick Kids Hospital. My three years in an intensive outpatient setting at a private centre in Toronto have also been pivotal, providing me with a deep understanding of the complexities of recovery in a clinical environment.

My life, much like everyone's, is a rich tapestry of experiences. Overcoming breast cancer in 2019 was a pivotal chapter in my life, reinforcing my resilience and empathy. Following this, I made a significant life change, moving from southern Ontario to the serene north shore of Lake Huron in 2021. This journey has taught me that life is unpredictable, and challenges like illness can have wide-reaching impacts. Yet, it's also shown me that healing is possible, and through it, we discover our resilience, develop deeper empathy, and appreciate the preciousness of life.

In our sessions, we'll go beyond just addressing eating habits. We'll explore self-perception and work towards not just recovery, but a life of thriving.

I also dedicate myself to working with families, enhancing communication and fostering understanding. It's about embracing feelings alongside facts, to nurture stronger, more supportive relationships.

If you're ready to start this journey, know that I'm here to walk with you, every step of the way.
